Blog-o-versary + CONTEST!

One year ago today, I created this blog.

*sniff*

My first post went a little something like:

Due to my extreme and frenetic (hence the blog title) love of reading, I'm here to review books and post about book related things. And that's about all you need to know.

I'll be back to post a review within the week. (Hopefully.)

And look, I'm still here! Aren't you all lucky?

It's been a crazy awesome year here on the blog. I've loved reviewing amazing books and chatting with all my fellow reviewers. You are all FABULOUS.

Let's take a look some of the firsts that occurred in my first year of blogging, shall we?

First review: Guitar Girl. I think I'd like this book much more if i read it now. But whatever.

First person who commented: Steph. Yay Steph!

First author who commented: Barrie Summy, whose book I've never read...I should get on that.

First author who sent me a book for review: Catherine Ryan Hyde. I reviewed Chasing Windmills and LOVED it.

First interview: Jim Rugg, illustrator of The Plain Janes.

First mention of David Levithan (this is an important event guys): It was actually in my Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List review.

First blogger I met: Sharon! She's not as scary in real life.

First contest: None! Shocking, isn't it? But today. Today I'm fixing this, because I am having a CONTEST.

I bet you want to know what you could win in this CONTEST. If you do, you are in luck, because I'm about to tell you.

In this contest, one winner will win four awesome books:

A signed copy of City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (Paperback!)
A signed copy of City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (Another paperback)
A signed copy of City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (ARC version!)
A signed copy of Wake by Lisa McMann (Paperback)
And a spiffy Wake necklace generously given to me by Lisa McMann.

So, a summary of the prizes: signed copies of the Mortal Instruments series and Wake, and a Wake necklace.

To be entered: leave a comment on THIS blog post. Leave some way to contact you as well, pleeeease. And because I find those "oh hai enter me plz kthnxbai" comments boring, you can tell me...um. You can tell me what books you're looking forward to this year. You can tell me how your day was. You can tell me if you prefer zombies to unicorns or vice versa. You can tell me a story. I don't know. Tell me something interesting.

+1 entry: post about the contest somewhere! Anywhere you want, within reason. (Sidebar of blog is fine.) But you have give me a link to where you posted about it.

Contest ends: Two weeks? That enough time for all you people to enter and stuff? It is now. Ends May 10.

*Only open to US/Canada. I think I'll be having a worldwide contest soon though. (: (Do I even HAVE many readers outside the US?)

  11. Well hello young Khy.
I had a very nice weekend, thank you very much. I slept in a box in a parking lot while it rained, I got no sleep, I drove in a van, I slept in a cabin called "Columbine", I read books, I ate a lot of food, and I slept. Sleeping in good conditions and bad.
And you should enter me in your contest. Please. ;)

  12. Because you are such a David Levithan fan you probably know this ^_^ but since I loved these as a kid here is a DL fact-

David Levithan has edited over a hundred of the Jedi Quest and Jedi Apprentice and Last of the Jedi books (the ones by Jude Watson)! I'm not sure that it will interest anyone but I was obsessed with those books at about 10!

  13. Hello.
So, today I was just trying to order books from the library, when I realized that I had completely forgotten what the book I wanted to order was called. Cursing myself slightly for my stupidity, I googled it. Google sent me to your blog, which immediately jogged my memory as to what the book was called. Then, as I was looking through your blog - as it helped me, so I wanted to look through it - I saw a link to this contest. I was immediately enthralled, hence this post, hence my entering.
Basically, this is me, showing you how impressed I am with you for this contest, jogging my memory, and having a blog.
Anyways, I almost clicked the little orange "PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT" button without leaving my email, which would be disappointing, for the obvious reasons.
    ANYHOW, this is my email:
    lizzamay89@gmail.com
    Thanks.
P.S. Zombies over unicorns any day.

  25. The prizes you're giving away are amazing!

Books I am looking forward to this year are Succubus Heat, Blood Promise, Catching Fire, and Going Bovine! I'm most excited about Catching Fire I think.

My day has been alright. I've been up all night working on my college work. Stupid.college.papers.on.affluence's.effects. Other than that, it's been good. Thank you for asking...well, sort of asking.

I have to go with zombies on the zombies-unicorns spectrum. I'm definitely with John Green on that one.

Something interesting? My brain is rotten mush right now, which isn't very interesting, maybe a little gross actually. But that's my excuse of not being able to come up with anything interesting.

  33. This is an awesome prize package!

    Lets see:

I'm looking forward to Kelley Armstrong's The Awakening, the sequel to The Hunger Games, Kelley Armstrong's Frostbitten, the new Generation Dead book, and the sequel to Michael Grant's Gone, among others.

My day has been tiring but good - we drove 55 miles each way to buy a cheap but cool patio set. I also finished The Hunger Games today, so that was cool too.

I definitely prefer zombies to unicorns, although it was opposite when I was younger. I do think a zombie unicorn would be great though!

A story? I have a cute little cockatiel named Princess Zelda, but for some reason we end up calling her Princess Poo, and every time we leave the house, she gives the saddest little cheep. A mean bird roommate plucked her head and neck bald before we adopted her, so when we got her, she looked like a little buzzard, but her feathers are slowly growing back.

Oh, and I can touch my tongue to my nose and I read way too many books (138 this year so far!)

Thanks for the chance to win!

Something interesting, hmm? Okay, I'll tell you something interesting. So technically, I didn't really stumble upon this entire network of YA book blogs for real-real until recently (as in end 2008/start 2009). But, but - yours, I believe I visited back in July of 2008.

My first ever comment on your blog (I was Googling because I'd just reviewed it on my old blog) was on your review of Jenny Green's Killer Junior Year. It went something like this:

    "deltay said...
I got an ARC of this book too, about a month ago, and I agree. Nice review, by the way.

A story. Well, today I was supposed to cover the national Bossaball Charity Challenge. I went out with my best friend Shah and we made our way downtown to find St Joseph's Institution, the place that the event was held. We cabbed our way there, and saw that it was closed. It was in a creepy clearing, and needless to say we knew we got the wrong place.

Then the cab driver told us that there was another SJI, and we went there only to find out it was the wrong place. Frustrated, we made our way home only to pass by the third, final and correct SJI.

    -.-

  74. oh whoa how awesome!

    Hmm something interesting?
Well the other day I was wearing heels and it may have slipped my mind that heels and grass just don't mix. Point is I ended up getting STUCK on the grass, it sucked. Quite funny though hehe

  75. I just found your website and I have to say, it's very nice. I'm big into reading, especially YA lately, and I think I'll be lurking on your website for quite some time.

Also, I need the set of the Mortal Instruments book because I owned the first, but my brother ruined it! It's a travesty, I tell you!

    Thanks!

  79. Hi,
New to your blog...looks like fun.
I love to read and I have read the first book in the mortal instruments series. It was awesome! The book I'm looking forward to the most is

  80. Oh hi enter me please k thankx bye!

    Just kidding! ;)
Hmmmmm did you know that on That 70's Show when they had to shot a scene that contained both Jackie and Donna one of them is always sitting due to their height difference. When they both have to be standing Jackie wears platform shoes. Or that Mila Kunis was 14 when she auditioned for the role of Jackie but lied and said she was 18. (That 70's Show is on....)

Enough of my rambling. I would love to be entered and congrats on your blogoverary! I look forward to following you in the future.

  81. I'm looking forward to numerous books this year. My TBR list is so long it needs its own zipcode! But here are some I'm looking forward to: Carpe Diem by Rachel Caine, Blood Promise by Richelle Mead, Thorn Queen by Richelle Mead, Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning, On the Edge by Ilona Andrews, and Darkborn by Alison Sinclair.

  82. Ah! First of all, I hope I win :D. I'm watching Dirty Dancing right now and it's probably one of my favorite movies, I can't wait till the end. It's the best part! I wish I could dance like them, I have zero rhythm. I really can't wait to read Tricks by Ellen Hopkins. I usually adore all of her books but this one seems really, really interesting. I'm starting a bunch of new series too. Like House of Night, Private, The Hunger Games (even though the second book isn't out yet.), and Uglies!

Hmm... I just finished reading Angels and Demons to be ready for the movie. And I can't wait for May 26th, when Hunger by Michael Grant comes out!!!
