[description from B&N]
When funny, charming, absolutely-normal Audrey Cuttler dumps her boyfriend Evan, he writes a song about her that becomes a number-one hit—and rockets Audrey to stardom!
Suddenly, tabloid paparazzi are on her tail and Audrey can barely hang with her friends at concerts or the movies without getting mobbed—let alone score a date with James, her adorable coworker at the Scooper Dooper. Her life will never be the same—at least, not until Audrey confronts Evan live on MTV and lets the world know exactly who she is!
Review:So I think I'm almost the last person ever to have read and review this book. But I still want to review because I 1) need something to post today and 2) because I actually could not put this book down. That happens pretty much never. Last time that happened was when I read Hate List. Time before that? Um, no idea. It happens that infrequently.
I was so worried I would not like this book that much because of the bazillion insanely fangirly reviews of it everywhere, and the blogger blurbs on the back of the paperback.* But I had nothing to worry about, because all the things mentioned in the glowing reviews were true. The characters were undeniably three-dimensional, though many did have similar traits, such as their love of music and ability to make smart comments. But that's easily overlooked when you consider that every character did indeed seem real, even the cat.
Like I said earlier, I could not put this book down. Maybe it was because of my extreme desire to see an "Audrey screaming at Evan" scene, but either way, I couldn't put it down. It was fun to see how Audrey's story unfolded, even though it did get predictable at times. But I kept wanting just to know how Audrey would end up; would the paparazzi ever stop following her? Would she end up with James, her Scooper Dooper coworker? Would the mean girl Sharon ever SHUT UP? Would Audrey ever give Evan a verbal beating? I HAD TO KNOW. And it didn't hurt that while I was learning all the answers to my questions, I got to laugh at some of the jokes and amusing things going on.
Audrey, Wait! is insanely fun, amusing, and awesome. If there's anyone out there who hasn't read it yet (do such people exist?), I suggest you pick it up.
9/10
*I want more books with blogger blurbs on them. I'm pretty sure I would buy them all. Ok, maybe not all, but ones with a bunch of them, I would. How awesome is it that there are blogger blurbs on the back?
