For example, I see a purple cover and most of the time automatically go "OOOOOH what a pretty/nice/cute cover to hold a great book."
To prove my point:

Then again, there are purple covers like this:

Not hideous, but a DOLL? Really? If there's one thing I don't like about the Pretty Little Liars series it's the covers.
If I see a pink cover, I usually think "That's either a girly, cute, or light book."

Then again, there's books like this:
A Bad Boy Can Be Good For a Girl is definitely not a girly, light, or cute book. It's quite good though.I see a mostly black cover and think "That's an interesting/pretty/nice cover. There's a really good chance that book is either really intense, great, or both."

But then again:

What have we learned today, children? 1) Laziness results in bad posts. 2) Khy likes looking at covers too much. 3) Khy should not judge books by their colors.
Looking for Alaska <3
ReplyDeleteI think pink = chick lit
also Vampire books always have black backgrounds with something either red or really pale in the foreground!
Khy (DANI!) is weird :D
ReplyDeleteHaha!
ReplyDeleteJen, I think you are right! I mean, look at Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Perfect example.
ReplyDeleteHaha Khy! I love how you just dissed Twilight through its cover. ;] I tend to go for blue covers and black covers. I'm like you with looking at covers; I can spend a long time just staring at the displays at Barnes & Noble.

Haha, fun post. And yes, Twilight....
ReplyDeleteShould not judge books by their colors! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI've never really looked at colours of books before except I think I try toavoid books with pink covers because I imagine them all to be really girly and the pink covered books I have read were actually really good books.
ReplyDeleteI'm a visual person, so I'm enjoying your cover discussions!
ReplyDeleteI agree - pink is girly & prissy. Black always screams horror to me.
Guess I like the dark blues and reds best...

It does make sense.. haha
ReplyDelete^ I agree. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. I totally agree! Purple can mean anything, but black is definitely darker/possibly paranormal, and pink is almost always light and fluffy, girly and cute!
ReplyDeleteGreen covers are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteInteresting... I notice I tend to be drawn to dark covers. That's probably why I got sucked into reading the Twilight series!
ReplyDeletePink definitely does scream "girly book!" to me... but it's usually that one particular shade of pink. The one that's associated with Barbie and almost borders on fuchsia. I think I'd steer clear of books with covers that colour; to me, that pink implies fluff and materialism.
I like this post. When you're bored/lazy, you post about randomly interesting stuff. I like the black especially, because it does usually signify an intense, great read. But Twilight does not fall into either category.
ReplyDeleteActually Twilight has a pretty cover, its just unfortunate it has Edward.
ReplyDeleteI love book covers. What a fun post!
ReplyDeleteBlue is one of my colours (Say, Eyes Like Stars), mostly because I love blue. I also love black and white covers, like Hush Hush. (*drools*)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what color OTHER's cover will be... I'm hoping blue or black for the background...
