I've read a few ARCs lately, and it is much too early to review them. So I decided that I would post a few sentences about each of them, because often I see that people want to know if books that come out far away are any good. Also, I enjoyed these and want to fangirl them a bit.
Because the "reviews" on these are so short, I didn't include summaries. But if you click on the title of one it will take you to a page with the summary, whether it be to Amazon or the author site. And if you click on the author name, it shall take you to their site.
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl - Full of Southern goodness and romance and mystery and whoooooo so good. A bit long, but the longness pretty much necessary because of all the things that need to be explained. Wonderful world-building in this one too. Cannot wait for the sequel! (Released December 1, 2009)
The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting - This book is full of creepy. It's got shady people and a girl with an...odd ability, so obviously it's filled with creepy. I'm not sure how Kimberly made it so eerie, since she seems so innocent, but I'll accept it and move on. xD The romance is a bit frustrating because during the first chapter you can tell how it will end up, but once the romance finally happens, it's quite a sweet relief. (Released March 16, 2010)
The Dark Divine by Bree Despain - The twist in this one is a bit bizarre, but it's unique and will set it apart from other novels with similar creatures. (Not telling you what kind because it's a spoiler, ha ha ha. You must read it to find out. :o) Some parts were a bit predictable because I read the story on which it is based- The Prodigal Son- about 10 times for school last year, but still full of plenty of mystery and twists to keep me reading. (Released December 23, 2009)
The Espressologist by Kristina Springer - Cute! Love the concept on this one- it's super fun! Both the plot and characters could have been developed more if it was longer (the ARC is 188 pages) but still fun and full of barista-ness. (Released October 27, 2009)
Give Up the Ghost by Megan Crewe - GHOOOOSTS! Ghosts are one paranormal thing I'm not tired of, but even if I was this book isn't overridden with ghosts, so it's all good. Fun concept, but I wish I knew how Cass got her ghost-seeing powers. Also, a great story about a girl growing up, without doing an unrealistic complete 180 transformation. (Released September 15, 2009)
(Tenner lunch post coming tomorrow! :D Sister took camera so I have no pictures yet. >.< And if you don't know what the Tenner lunch is, you'll find out tomorrow. dun dun dun.)
Gah, these all sound FANTASTIC! So jealous :-x I'm glad you liked them all!
